Russian government officials are not in contact with President-elect Donald Trump's transition team, said Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for Vladimir Putin, on Monday.
The statement, reported by Reuters, conflicts with comments made by a senior Russian diplomat last month that the Kremlin had connected with members of Trump's campaign team during the general election.
Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said in November the Russian embassy in the U.S. had "sufficient, responsible" discussions with the Trump campaign.
Trump aide Kellyanne Conway continued to deny those charges on Sunday, calling the suggestion of coordination between the campaign and Moscow "not only inaccurate and false" but also "dangerous," the Hill reported.
Trump's relationship with Russia has come under increased scrutiny following the CIA's conclusion earlier this month that senior Kremlin officials directed hacks into U.S. political systems to tip the election toward the president-elect.
The Trump team has denied those claims.
