Republican Darryl Glenn came up short in his Senate race against Democratic incumbent Sen. Michael Bennet.
The country commissioner trailed by 5 points at 45 to 50 percent with 62 percent precincts reporting on Tuesday evening.
Glenn ran a solutions-oriented campaign focused on changing Washington from the ground up. A retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, Glenn made the Iran deal a central issue to his campaign, contrasting Bennet's support for the nuclear agreement.
Glenn began the campaign with little name recognition, but that changed after he was given a high-profile speaking spot at the Republican National Convention in July. Glenn's fiery speaking style helped catapult him to securing the Republican nomination in a crowded field at the Colorado GOP convention earlier this year.
