A Democrat backed by the liberal Middle East advocacy group J Street has been defeated in the party’s primary by a longtime pro-Israel politician, according to reports.
In Illinois’ tenth district, Brad Schneider, a former House member and staunch pro-Israel voice, reportedly defeated primary challenger Nancy Rotering, who had bragged about her support of J Street.
This is yet another loss for an organization that has been marginalized in the American Jewish community and has had difficulty attracting support in Congress.
