Socialist Bernie Sanders Rudely Interrupted on Kremlin TV

February 2, 2016

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.), a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, was not happy when Americans interrupted his interview with Ed Schultz, a former MSNBC personality who now works for the Kremlin-funded network RT.

Schultz and Sanders were walking down the street on Monday and speculating that it would be a "game changer" if Sanders won Iowa when an American woman interrupted the interview.

"Excuse me. Excuse me! I'm talking to him. You know, that's not very nice," Sanders said testily.

After Sanders shot the woman a dirty look, Schultz resumed the interview by asking Sanders if he was having fun on the campaign trail.

The interview occurred on Monday just before the Iowa caucus, according to Accuracy in Media. Sanders came in a very close second place to Hillary Clinton in that contest.

During Schultz’s time at MSNBC, he was a vocal supporter of Sanders, a self-described democratic socialist who honeymooned in the Soviet Union and spoke warmly of Third World communist regimes. Schultz had also slammed RT for being a propaganda machine for Russian leader Vladimir Putin, at one point referring to Putin as "Pooty" and discussing his many human rights violations.

In a statement on the RT website, Schultz claimed to be excited to join RT.

"The network is firmly established outside of U.S. corporate media and is not afraid to give a platform to diverse voices, stories and perspectives to its viewers, even if it ruffles some mainstream feathers. I can’t think of a better fit than a news broadcaster that bullishly pursues issues that matter to hardworking Americans," Schultz's statement read.

Schultz was let go from MSNBC in a network shakeup to combat the network's sinking viewership numbers last summer.
