President Obama’s approval ratings in a CBS/New York Times poll hit a new low in recent weeks, according to the Times:
At a time of rising gas prices, heightened talk of war with Iran and setbacks in Afghanistan, Mr. Obama’s approval rating dropped substantially in recent weeks, the poll found, with 41 percent of respondents expressing approval of the job he is doing and 47 percent saying they disapprove—a dangerous position for any incumbent seeking re-election.
Obama’s approval rating is down nine points in the poll compared with one month ago. Politico reports that "The numbers [in the CBS/New York Times poll] are similar to the dip his approval took in an ABC News/Washington Post poll earlier today, and the slippage is seen in lower-income households, and in relation to the economy and foreign policy, an issue that's been in the news of late."
