Martin O'Malley Takes Shot at DNC for Debate Schedule

December 19, 2015

During Martin O'Malley's opening statement at Saturday evening's Democratic debate, he took a veiled shot at DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz's choice to host the third debate on a weekend and the limited number of debates.

"Tonight we have a different debate then the debates we have been allowed to have so far. Tonight is different because in the course of this presidential campaign America has again been attacked," O'Malley said.

The former governor went on to discuss his concerns over the safety of the American people from homegrown terrorist attacks.

O'Malley's language about the debates "we have been allowed to have so far" appeared to be criticism of the limited debate schedule. Schultz has come under fire from Bernie Sanders supporters, O'Malleyand the media for the very limited number of Democratic debates. The DNC has been accused of sheltering Clinton and making the opportunity for her to become the Democratic Party nominee easier.

Schultz has denied that this was the case and has stood firm on not adding any more debates or changing the days that the debates are held.

The next Democratic party debate is on Sunday, January 17, 2016.
