A Maryland man who dressed as Batman and drove his own version of a Batmobile to visit ill children in hospitals died in a car accident over the weekend.
Lenny Robinson, 51, was hit and killed on Interstate 70 in Maryland Sunday night while checking the engine of his black Lamborghini on the side of the road.

Robinson had just stopped at a gas station, where he met a family whose children were interested in his custom-made car, Maryland state police in Hagerstown said. Robinson gave the kids some superhero paraphernalia before leaving about the same time as his new acquaintances. When they saw him pull over, they did the same and witnessed the 10:30 p.m. accident, state police said.
According to a police news release, Robinson had stopped "partially in the fast lane" to check his engine. A Toyota Camry hit his Lamborghini, which in turn struck Robinson. The real-life "Batman" died at the scene of the accident.
Robinson rose to Internet fame in 2012 when he was pulled over in Maryland in full Batman garb while driving his black Lamborghini with Batman symbol license plates. He regularly visited sick children in hospitals like Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, giving them books, bracelets and other toys.
Robinson often worked with the D.C.-based Hope for Henry Foundation dedicated to helping ill children. He would star in super hero-themed parties that the organization would plan at hospitals, even appearing in a recently produced video about the events.
