State Department spokesperson Marie Harf was ‘perplexed’ Monday by a New York Times article that contradicted former secretary of state Hillary Clinton’s earlier statements about the controversy over Clinton’s emails.
The New York Times reported that Clinton turned over 300 emails to the House Select Committee on Benghazi, where it was revealed Clinton and her aides were concerned about the public fallout of the Benghazi attacks.
The emails also revealed that State Department officials used personal accounts to communicate with Clinton for official business, which contradicts Clinton’s earlier statement that she corresponded with her aides on their government email addresses so messages would be saved.
When asked if the New York Times article was incorrect, Harf did not give a direct answer and said she wasn’t going to "fact-check" the story.
