Republican Scott Brown was mobbed by eager supporters on Saturday at the University of New Hampshire’s Homecoming football tailgate.
Brown, who is running against incumbent Democrat Sen. Jeanne Shaheen for New Hampshire’s U.S. Senate seat, ventured into the packed student section at the UNH tailgate this past weekend.
Rowdy students, including members of the university’s College Republicans, gave the candidate a warm reception.
"It’s just going to be about just bringing my message to young voters and everyone across the state," Brown said.
Supporters at the tailgate said they appreciated his willingness to join in the Homecoming fun.
"I think they realize he’s the guy who can support them and that he’s just a normal person like everyone else," Rep. Joe Sweeney of Salem, N.H., said.
Shaheen was also campaigning in the state on Saturday. Sen. Sherrod Brown joined her for a pancake breakfast in Concord, N.H.
