Hamas Behind Abduction of Israeli Teens

Hamas members are suspected of kidnapping three Israeli teens, according to the Times of Israel.

Two of the suspects, Amer Abu Aysha and Marwan Kawasme, are known Hamas members and have been missing from their West Bank homes since the date of the kidnappings.

Abu Aysha, 32, is the son of a man who was imprisoned by Israel for working with Hamas. His brother was also a member of the terrorist organization and was killed in 2005 during a conflict with the Israeli Defense Forces.

Kawasme, 29, has been detained by both the Palestinian Authority and Israel. Like Abu Aysha, Kawasme's family also shared connections with Hamas.

According to the Times:

His uncle Abdullah Kawasme was the commander of the organization’s military wing in Hebron and was killed in a battle with SWAT officers in November 2003.

Gil-ad Shaar, Eyal Yifrach, and Naftali Fraenkel were abducted June 12 from a hitchhiking post near Jerusalem. IDF has organized a mass search effort that is still ongoing.
