Failed airplane panty-bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab gets life in prison, the Washington Post reports.
Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the Nigerian who attempted to bring down a U.S. commercial flight on Christmas Day 2009 by detonating a bomb hidden in his underwear, was sentenced to life in prison Thursday in federal court in Detroit.
"As this investigation and prosecution have shown, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab is a remorseless terrorist who believes it is his duty to kill Americans," said Attorney General Eric Holder. "Today’s sentence once again underscores the effectiveness of the criminal justice system in both incapacitating terrorists and gathering valuable intelligence from them."
Before the sentencing, Abdulmutallab said he was "proud to kill in the name of God."
Fortunately, he didn’t actually kill anyone.
