The Washington Free Beacon’s Ellison Barber joined Fox News’ The Kelly File Monday to discuss a controversial new pharmaceutical ad depicting an American soldier and a Muslim woman dressed in a niqab. Barber and the panel agreed that there was nothing wrong with the ad depicting members of different religions as spouses. The issue, Barber said, was that the woman was depicted in a niqab, a type of headdress that is used in many Muslim countries to "suppress and demean women."
"Firstly, I have an issue with that because I think that stereotypes a Muslim woman. There are not many Muslim women in America that are wearing that conservative type of dress," Barber said. "Secondly, that is not something that many people wear because they want to," Barber continued. "A lot of people don’t. Historically that is the type of covering that is used to suppress and demean women."
