Vice President Joe Biden asked supporters why the U.S. could not lead the 20th century in automobile manufacturing at a Blacksburg, Va., campaign event Wednesday--the latest in a string of gaffes this week from the vice president.
BIDEN: Once again, General Motors is the largest automobile maker in the world. Folks, where's it written we cannot lead the world in the 20th century in making automobiles? I've not seen it written anywhere.
In the Wednesday speech, Biden also referred to Rep. Paul Ryan as "Gov. Ryan."
The gaffes today are just the latest in a series of mistakes for Biden this week.
Biden told supporters at a Danville, Va., campaign event Tuesday that Republicans are "going to put y'all back in chains."
Republicans condemned the remarks, with a Romney campaign spokesperson calling them "not acceptable."
Biden also told Virginia supporters at the event that with their help, the campaign "can win North Carolina again."
