MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski said Gov. Chris Christie (R., N.J.) had taken responsibility for the bridge controversy making recent headlines in a way President Obama never did for the IRS scandal Friday on Morning Joe.
Brzezinski said the New York reporters did not "coddle him" the way they might have with President Obama before making her point about the IRS' targeting of conservative groups.
"Obama said he didn't know about it, but he didn't do what Chris Christie did," Brzezinski said. "Which was say, 'But I'm responsible, and I don't know what I did in my office, I've got to do a lot of soul-searching to figure out why people felt they could do this."
Brzezinski also revealed Christie told her he was not aware how long his press conference addressing the scandal lasted Thursday, because he wanted to be sure he answered every question and reveal he had "nothing to hide." Christie's presser lasted nearly two hours.
