Saturday’s rematch between Texas A&M and Alabama has been hyped because Heisman winner Johnny Manziel will reacquaint himself with national champion Crimson Tide. Manziel’s rumored memorabilia ring and new reports showing illicit payments to players jeopardize Alabama’s titles add even more intrigue to a game that already had plenty.
In celebration of Bama/A&M, this week I'm breaking down the SEC. For the season, I’m 16-2 with my picks, going a perfect 8-0 last week.
Let’s get to work!
Louisville -14 vs. Kentucky
Louisville should cover against a Kentucky rolled by a Sun Belt team in Week One.
Southern Miss vs. Arkansas -22
Arkansas should roll against a team that’s lost 14 straight dating back to last season.
Arkansas's coach is the hubby to this here Blog's favorite, Jen Bielema.
Tennessee vs. Oregon -28
Oregon should breeze past the Vols.
There's lots of speed off-field at Oregon as well.
Miss. St vs. Auburn -6
Auburn should put up some points versus MSU, but expect the game to be close.
Kent St vs. LSU -37
I can’t see LSU reaching nearly 40 points to cover.
Former LSU soccer goalkeeper Mo Isom once tried to be LSU's football kicker. She missed the cut, but has done well for herself post-football.
Vanderbilt vs. South Carolina -13.5
South Carolina has had a brutal schedule to start the season, but they should handle Vandy at home.
South Carolina coming home to play the 'Dores is another brutal game at the start of their schedule.
Ole Miss +2.5 vs. Texas
Texas fired their defensive coordinator after last week's debacle in Utah and reports say new coordinator Greg Robinson needs players to catch him up on the schemes. On top of that, Robinson’s last stop in Michigan was a clown show.
Alabama -8 vs. Texas A&M
The Tide dominate these rematch games.
Saturday's rematch will be a good primer for the Miss America Pageant.
