NBC News deleted a segment from its website with new revelations about the attack of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband in their San Francisco home—including that Paul Pelosi opened the door for police and did not tell officers he was in danger.

"The 82-year-old did not immediately declare an emergency or try to leave his home but instead began walking several feet back into the foyer toward the assailant," the report said.

Officers watched a struggle ensue and the assailant, David DePape, hit Pelosi in the head.

"This piece has been removed from publication because it did not meet NBC News reporting standards," an editor's note says.

The report, which has been reposted to Rumble, questions why Pelosi did not alert officers to the emergency or try to leave his home.

Pelosi was released from the hospital Friday after six days of recovering from a fractured skull and other injuries.

DePape was charged with one count of assault of an immediate family member of a United States official and one count of attempted kidnapping of a United States official. He could receive up to 50 years in prison.
