New Jersey Governor Chris Christie guest-hosted the Boomer and Carton show on New York’s WFAN on Monday morning. During the 6am hour the discussion turned to the ongoing spectacle that is the New York Jets. When asked about Mark Sanchez, who was injured after Coach Rex Ryan put him in the game during the fourth quarter of Saturday’s preseason game, Christie issued an intense defense of the embattled Jets quarterback:

CHRIS CHRISTIE: "It seems like the fans have amnesia about this guy, Yeah, he was awful last year, but by the way, he had no weapons last year to throw to, he had no receiving core, he had no running game and the offensive line was below average. So what are you looking for from the guy? I think they’ve treated him awfully. It seems like they’re determined … and I think this new general manager (John Idzik) is just determined to play the guy that he drafted (Geno Smith)."
