Two top State Department officials may have lied under oath in a lawsuit brought against former Secretary of Stae Hillary Clinton, Fox News reported Wednesday.
Scott Bultrowicz and Tracy Mahaffey testified in February they were unaware of any investigations into the State Department or allegations of criminal misconduct while being deposed in a civil case brought against Clinton. Newly uncovered documents suggest, however, they were aware of such investigations when they claimed not to be.
Fox News correspondent James Rosen said veteran DS agent Rick Higbie filed suit against State on charges he was discriminated against by superiors for refusing overseas work because of his sick daughter. The Department contested the claims, and Bultrowicz and Mahaffey then gave their allegedly false statements when they denied knowing about criticism about State's procedures or any pending investigations.
Documentary evidence, Rosen reported, showed both these officials had been informed roughly 60 days before their testimony of the Inspector General's preliminary findings of State's operations and that it had to come to "damning conclusions."
