Carney: 'Don't know' if Atrocities Prevention Board has met on Syria

White House press secretary Jay Carney said he did not know the answer to whether the president's Atrocities Prevention Board had met in response to the Syrian crisis, in a Wednesday press briefing.

REPORTER: Two questions, starting with Syria. Has the president’s new Atrocities Prevention Board met to consider a response to the Syrian crisis, particularly since the Houla massacre?

CARNEY: I'm sorry? How’s the—

REPORTER: The president's new atrocities prevention board, which he actually announced at the Holocaust visit—

CARNEY: I’ll have to take the question, I don't know the answer to that.

President Obama announced the Atrocities Prevention Board in April at the U.S. Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C.

At that event, the president said "national sovereignty is never a license to slaughter your people."

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Tuesday the United States is working "behind the scenes" to address the ongoing violence in Syria that has left thousands dead at the hands of the Syrian regime.
