Iranian officials responded to President Donald Trump's tweet from Sunday telling the Iranian president not to threaten the United States again.

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif tweeted on Monday—without mentioning the United States or Trump by name—that Iran was "UNIMPRESSED" by the "bluster."

"COLOR US UNIMPRESSED: The world heard even harsher bluster a few months ago. And Iranians have heard them—albeit more civilized ones—for 40 yrs," Zarif tweeted. "We’ve been around for millennia & seen fall of empires, incl our own, which lasted more than the life of some countries. BE CAUTIOUS!"

In Iran, threats and taunts toward the United States are common and part of many events sanctioned by the Iranian government.

Trump has made ending Iran's nuclear program a priority, saying the nuclear deal reached by former President Barack Obama only made the situation worse.

Trump's tweet Sunday—in which he warned Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to "NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN"—came after Rouhani said pursuing hostile policies against Iran "will only lead to regret."

"America should know that peace with Iran is the mother of all peace, and war with Iran is the mother of all wars," Rouhani said while addressing a gathering of Iranian diplomats.

Iranian leaders have also made threats about the possibility of the United States blocking its oil exports, a key source of revenue for Iran.
