Speaker John Boehner Unable to Sign Up for Obamacare

Update: Eventually succeeds in enrolling in D.C. health exchange

November 21, 2013

House Speaker John Boehner attempted to sign up for health care using the D.C. health exchange Thursday afternoon.

He documented his struggles on his website:

"Like many Americans, my experience was pretty frustrating," the speaker wrote. "After putting in my personal information, I received an error message."

The speaker worked past this message but was then met by another error message as he tried to sign up for coverage.

Despite multiple attempts, I was unable to get past that point and sign up for a health plan," the speaker wrote. "We’ve got a call into the help desk.  Guess I’ll just have to keep trying…"

Around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Boehner succeeded in enrolling him in D.C.'s exchange.

According to his Boehner's update:

Updated (5:35 pm ET:) Kept at it, and called the D.C. Health Link help line.  They called back a few hours later, and after re-starting the process on the website two more times, I just heard from D.C. Health Link that I have been successfully enrolled.
