The White House director of social media, Dan Scavino Jr., fired back at a tweet from Sen. Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) on Friday, revealing an old photo of the Senate minority leader having coffee and a doughnut with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The New York senator tweeted, "The bottom line is we have an obligation to get to the truth. We must evaluate the scope of Russia's interference in our election."
Scavino responded with a photograph of Schumer and Putin, adding, "Do it over a donut and coffee."

The White House came under fire on Wednesday night when it was revealed that Attorney General Jeff Sessions did not disclose during his confirmation hearing two meetings with the Russian ambassador to the U.S., Sergey Kislyak. The meetings occurred last year during then-candidate Donald Trump's presidential campaign.
Sessions recused himself on Thursday from any investigation related to Trump's 2016 campaign.
