White House spokesman Josh Earnest said during Friday’s White House press briefing that if Congress attached a defunding of Planned Parenthood rider to a spending bill, the president would veto it.
"What we have indicated in the past remains true today: We have routinely opposed the inclusion of ideological riders in the budget process," Earnest said. "And certainly a rider that would, on a wholesale basis, defund Planned Parenthood is certainly something that would draw a presidential veto."
Earnest could not commit President Obama to a veto when asked about the subject at Thursday's briefing.
Earnest also said he had not seen the controversial videos of Planned Parenthood officials discussing fetal organ harvesting.
