In the wake of last year’s terrorist attack in San Bernardino, Calif., Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta privately wished that the shooter’s name were Christopher Hayes, hacked emails show.

After MSNBC reporter Chris Hayes identified one of the two shooters in the attack as Syeed Farook, Podesta wrote, "Better if a guy named Sayeed Farouk was reporting that a guy named Christopher Hayes was the shooter."

The email to Clinton campaign spokeswoman Karen Finney was one of thousands released by Wikileaks after hackers believed to be acting in concert with the Russian government breached Podesta’s email account.

Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, killed 14 people and injured 22 more in the Dec. 2, 2015, attack before being killed in a shootout with police.

Farook and Malik were later discovered to have pledged allegiance to the Islamic State, which praised the attack and dubbed its perpetrators "martyrs."
