Only 5 percent of young adults aged 18-29 view left-leaning MSNBC as the most trustworthy news source, a new Public Religion Research Institute poll shows.
That's less than half of the number who most trust liberal Comedy Central personalities Jon Stewart on The Daily Show and Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report, who came in at 11 percent in the PRRI poll. Stewart is stepping down from The Daily Show in August and Colbert recently left Comedy Central to take over Late Show hosting duties on CBS.
MSNBC is reportedly canceling its liberal commentary programs The Cycle, Now with Alex Wagner, and The Ed Show in favor of more hard news as it deals with ratings slides. Meet the Press host Chuck Todd and former Nightly News anchor Brian Williams are expected to take over late-afternoon slots.
The Washington Post reports the most trusted news source for millennials was CNN at 24 percent, followed by Fox News and the networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) at 19 percent each.
