A top donor to Kentucky Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes’ Senate campaign is convinced that she will work to destroy the coal industry if elected in November.
“She’s gonna fuck ‘em as soon as she gets elected,” New York City real estate mogul Niko Elmaleh told an undercover videographer with the group Project Veritas Action at a recent Grimes event.
Elmaleh gave the maximum $2,600 to Grimes’ campaign in June. According to the video, he expects those funds to support Grimes’ efforts to “fuck” the Kentucky coal industry if she is elected in November.
“She can’t say it straight up,” Elmaleh says in the video. “She’s going to do what she has to do to get elected and then she’s gonna fuck ‘em.”
“Trust me,” Elmaleh added. “She’s a killer.”
The release of Elmaleh’s remarks comes a day after Veritas dropped a series of undercover videos showing Grimes campaign staffers and employees of local Democratic Party affiliates in Kentucky saying that she is lying about her support for the coal industry.
That support is crucial in coal-heavy Kentucky, and Grimes has worked to present herself as a strong proponent of the industry.
Her campaign did not specifically respond to her staffers’ remarks on Monday, instead touting the United Mine Workers union’s endorsement of her campaign, and attacking conservative filmmaker James O’Keefe, who leads Project Veritas.
