Glenn Thrush: Clinton Attempt to Downplay Foundation Scandals Actually Raises More Questions

Politico reporter Glenn Thrush said that former President Bill Clinton’s attempt to downplay Clinton Foundation scandals raises more questions.

During a recent NBC interview, Clinton was asked about the recent stories about foreign donations received by the Clinton Foundation when Hillary Clinton served as Secretary of State. The stories have raised the question if Clinton offered special access or treatment to people who donated to the Clinton Foundation during her time as secretary of state.

Bill Clinton defended the Clinton Foundation, saying, "There is no doubt in my mind that we have never done anything knowingly inappropriate in terms of taking money to influence any kind of American government policy."

Since Hillary Clinton announced her presidential campaign, the Clinton Foundation has been under close scrutiny, which revealed the foundation failed to disclose several donations and made mistakes on their tax returns. The Clinton Foundation has announced that it will release several years of tax returns due to errors.

"Well, I have to take issue with what the former president said," Thrush said. "I mean, there is a lot of new information that we didn't know before, you know, and, in fact, the foundation is restating several years of its tax returns because of admitted errors and omissions."

"This is obviously going to be an ongoing set of questions. The president didn't really dismiss all those."
