Republican Mike Coffman (R., Colo.) won reelection Thursday night, easily defeating his Democratic opponent Morgan Carroll.

Coffman secured 51 percent of the vote with 70 percent of precincts reporting to Carroll's 43 percent, according to the Associated Press.

Coffman, a veteran who has served in the House of Representatives since 2008, has long been a target of Democrats. Coffman made Veterans Affairs issues central to his campaign.

He also released a Spanish-speaking ad vowing to "stand up" to Republican nominee Donald Trump in August. Though Trump failed to carry the state, Coffman showed a strong showing in Colorado, which also saw Democratic incumbent Sen. Michael Bennet win reelection.
