Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are in a dead heat among California voters with the state’s closely watched primary election just one day away, according to a new poll from CBS News.

Clinton leads Sanders by only two points—49 percent to 47 percent—leaving the possibility that the former secretary of state could secure the Democratic nomination Tuesday without the backing of the nation’s most populous state.

The numbers mark a significant turnaround for Clinton, who in April held a 10-point lead over the Vermont senator.

Despite a virtual toss-up in California, Clinton is expected to gain the majority of delegates needed to win the Democratic nomination before polls close in the June 7 election.

In New Jersey, where 142 delegates are up for grabs, the Democratic front-runner maintains a firm lead, 61 percent to 34 percent, over Sanders.

Clinton is just 28 delegates shy of the 2,383 she needs to be nominated before the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. She picked up most of the 60 delegates up for grabs in Puerto Rico after winning the commonwealth Sunday evening.

Still, Sanders has refused to concede the race regardless of Tuesday’s outcome, vowing to fight for the party’s nomination until July’s convention.
