An ad attacking Kansas Senate candidate Greg Orman highlights his past support for the national Democratic party, despite the fact that Orman is running as an independent and has not stated which party he would caucus with if elected.
"As an independent, I won’t answer to either party, I’ll answer only to the people of Kansas," Orman has said.
The ad, commissioned by Freedom Partners Action Fund, points out that Orman has donated thousands of dollars to Democratic politicians in the past, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) Hillary Clinton, and President Barack Obama.
"A vote for Greg Orman is one more vote for Barack Obama," the ad says.
Obama's steep decline in popularity has made him a liability for Democrats in tight races, and has caused some to distance themselves from him on the campaign trail.
