House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) remarked that setting a budget was about priorities and the narrative that Washington has a spending problem was untrue during her interview on Fox News Sunday.
"It is almost a false argument to say we have a spending problem," Pelosi said. "We have a budget deficit problem that we have to address."
Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace remarked that raising taxes stunted economic growth, leading Pelosi to reply that deficit reduction methods were about timing. Wallace pointed out that in response to the fiscal cliff, Congress passed a $650 billion tax hike.
"That was a very good thing to do on the high end in our population," Pelosi said.
