One week before Obamacare is set to take effect, businesses across the nation continue to lay off employees in an effort to save money. A suburban health system says it is cutting 125 employees because of the ill effects of Obamacare. Franciscan Alliance cut workers at St. James Chicago Heights, Olympia Fields, and several outpatient centers yesterday.
Limited reimbursement rates have forced the company to lay off employees. The company says that they will also have to reduce admissions. About 6 percent of the St. James workforce will be affected by these layoffs.
