Obama Free On Day He Declined Netanyahu Meeting

Another White House claim is unraveling

September 28, 2012

Two weeks ago, relations between President Barack Obama and Israel hit a new low when Obama declined a request from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for a meeting while Netanyahu was in the U.S. to attend the U.N. General Assembly.

The White House claimed there was a "scheduling issue" preventing the president from meeting with the leader of America's closest ally in the Middle East, even though Netanyahu had offered to travel to Washington to make the appointment more convenient for the president.

Netanyahu spoke at the U.N. on Thursday. Today is the day he would have traveled to Washington—and Obama's schedule shows that his entire afternoon is free.
