Donald Trump is set to appoint retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn as his national security adviser, NBC News reported Wednesday night.
Flynn, a former Defense Intelligence Agency chief who favors closer U.S.-Russia relations, served as a military adviser to Trump during the campaign. His appointment does not require Senate confirmation.
Trump spokesman Jason Miller said Flynn met with Trump on Wednesday evening, noting that he would make a "fantastic addition" to the administration.
The Trump campaign has not yet confirmed the NBC report.
