DHS Against White House Plan to Lift Ban on Libyans Attending U.S. Flight Schools

Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson told lawmakers that he will not sign off on an Obama administration proposal to reverse a longstanding ban on Libyan nationals studying in U.S. flight schools and training here in nuclear science.

Asked by lawmakers Wednesday if Johnson intended to go along with the plan, he responded that he would not sign off on it, the Washington Times reported.

This would effectively kill the administration’s plan to reverse a ban first instated in the 1980s that prevents Libyans from studying these sensitive fields in the United States

The administration's decision to reverse the ban was first reported by the Washington Free Beacon in August.
