Dem Congressman: Iran Will 'Absolutely' Have More Money To Fund Terrorism If Nuclear Deal Passes

July 23, 2015

Rep. Adam Schiff (D., Calif.) admitted to CNN's Wolf Blitzer Thursday that Iran would "absolutely" have more resources to fund terrorism across the world through the nuclear deal reached earlier this month.

The world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism, Iran will receive up to $100 billion in sanctions relief as a result of the nuclear agreement the Obama administration and other world powers reached with the Ayatollah.

"Absolutely, they’ll have greater resources," Schiff said.

The ranking member of the House Committee on Intelligence voiced his concern that Iran will increase pressure on neighboring countries.

"Iran's proven cost effective in their support of Hezbollah," Schiff said. "They've been able to stretch a few dollars a long way. Now they'll have a lot more dollars."

He said he was surprised after the FBI confirmed Iran was behind an assassination attempt of the Saudi Arabian ambassador in Washington.

"Which just goes to show you Iran, in addition to its various terrorist activities around the world, is willing and capable of an attack here on the homeland in the most brazen of fashions," Schiff said. "That whole chapter was just so shocking."

Schiff said Iran was responsible for horrible acts of murder and terror, and remains an enemy of the United States.
