Textbook publisher Barron’s said it will destroy an edition of one of its test prep books that appears to equate Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas with the Ku Klux Klan, attributing it to an editing error.
The publishing company apologized on Tuesday, after the Daily Caller reported that its textbook for the Advanced Placement European History labeled Thomas—the second black Supreme Court justice and a descendant of slaves—a "fascist" and compared him with the violent white supremacist group.
The textbook defined "reactionary/fascist" politics as "Those who want things like they used to be. Clarence Thomas and the KKK."
Barron’s said in a press release that it will halt all shipments of the textbook and destroy remaining copies.
"This was an unintentional error on the part of the authors and Barron’s for which we sincerely apologize," said Barron’s. "It was never our intention to malign Justice Thomas, nor to become embroiled in the right vs. left politics of the day."
