The ardently pro-Israel former mayor of New York City and the Iranian regime have found something to agree on: that Chuck Hagel, President Barack Obama's likely nominee for secretary of defense, is anti-Israel.
Former New York City Mayor Ed Koch said in an interview with the Algemeiner that Hagel "would be a terrible appointment" and "a great mistake" because it would encourage Israel's enemies to "think that President Obama is seeking to put space between Israel and his administration."
The Iranian state propaganda channel Press TV agreed with Koch’s sentiments in its latest report titled, "Obama expected to nominate anti-Israel Hagel as secretary of defense." Press TV said that Hagel is "an outspoken critic of Israel" who boasted in 2008 "that he had never signed any of the letters by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) aimed at showing support for Israel or taking stances against Israel’s enemies."
