An Israeli woman decided to set fire to a gas pump and car after she was denied a cigarette by the man operating the pump, Israel Hayom reports.
"A woman approached a man while filling his petrol tank and asked for a cigarette, when he refused to give it to her she pulled out a lighter from her pocket and ignited the gas pump. The car owner reacted quickly by pulling the pump that was on fire from his tank and fleeing. Gas station workers extinguished the fire," Rosenfeld said in a written statement.
"The woman was arrested shortly after the incident and in her investigation she denied the incident," the statement said.
The Jerusalem Magistrates’ Court has extended her arrest for five days and sent her for psychological evaluations, an Israeli news website reported.
The man at the pump reportedly said he could not understand what the woman was asking for when she approached him. He was shocked when she lit the pump on fire. The passenger in his car was barely able to escape before the flames engulfed the car.
There is no word on whether the woman is receiving cigarettes while in custody.
