Florida Man Attempts Bank Robbery, Leaves Behind Note With His Name

A South Florida man unsuccessfully attempted to rob a bank and tipped authorities off by leaving a note with his name.

Felipe Cruz approached the bank teller at Chase Bank in Pompano Beach and instructed her to give him money. "Give me the 100s, 50s, 20s now," he wrote on a note that he gave to her. He asked her for the money twice, but she refused. Cruz fled the scene, but left an incriminating piece of evidence behind- a completed job application he had filled out.

His fingerprints were lifted from the application and Broward Sheriff’s Office investigators later determined his address as four miles from the bank.

FBI agent Michael Leverock commented on the failed robbery, "By trying to rob a bank with a demand note written on the back of his employment search form, the robber has given us a clue. He probably should have continued looking for honest work."
