Arkansas Republican Senate candidate Rep. Tom Cotton outraised incumbent Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor in the first three months of 2014, marking the third consecutive quarter that Cotton has outraised his opponent.
Cotton pulled in $1.35 million compared to Pryor’s $1.22 million over the last quarter. Pryor is still outpacing his Republican challenger in terms of his overall war chest. The incumbent senator has $4.4 million on hand, while Cotton has $2.7 million.
"I am incredibly humbled by the outpouring of support from Arkansans from every corner of our state," said Cotton in a statement on Tuesday. "Last week I announced our campaign's 75-county grassroots effort, and our fundraising success will only bolster our momentum going forward. Arkansans are ready for a senator who will put our interests before President Obama’s partisan agenda."
The Arkansas race is expected to be one of the most competitive and closest-watched of the 2014 midterms. Polls show Cotton and Pryor neck-and-neck with seven months to go until Election Day.
