Flashback: Arizona Democrat says you can’t have good healthcare without higher taxes

At a 2009 townhall, Democrat Kyrsten Sinema told attendees that higher taxes "lead to great healthcare" and admitted that her home state did not have many ideas to contribute to the healthcare reform discussion. She also questioned her own capability to attend such a gathering.

Standing in front of a painting of then newly inaugurated President Obama, Sinema recounted details of the gathering she went to at the White House, where healthcare reform was a hot topic.

"So, one thing that we did was we shared kind of the best practices from around the states. I didn’t have much to share- I took notes…Maine and Connecticut and Wisconsin and Washington, they’re all like bragging about all these great things they have, and then I was like ‘What am I doing here?’" she told the townhall attendees.

Sinema has previously come under fire for her other controversial views, including her anti-Israel past.
