Podesta on Clinton Taking Lobbyist Money: 2016 Will Be 'Supercharged with Special Interest Money'

April 21, 2015

Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager John Podesta defended the campaign for accepting money from lobbyists, saying the with the amount of money coming towards the campaign they would "take money if it’s legal."

When Obama ran for president, he said he would not accept campaign donations from lobbyists.

In an effort to defend the campaign’s decision accept lobbyist money, Podesta said the Koch brothers said they would pledge almost $900 million this election cycle. Ted Cruz’s Super PAC raised $31 million in two weeks.

"We’re just going to have to have the resources to compete in this election, which is going to be super charged with special interest money," Podesta said.
