Philly Dem Charged With Bribery

BY:

A Philadelphia lawmaker is facing charges over an alleged $7,000 "shakedown" of a local towing company, the Associated Press reports.

Yeadon borough council president John Holden is facing felony charges of bribery and theft as an official.

The Delaware County district attorney's office said it all started when Holden's abandoned car was towed by Seiple Collision. Investigators say Holden suggested to the company that their contract with the borough would be in jeopardy unless he was paid a bribe. …

Prosecutors say Holden met with one of the owners and received $1,000 as a down payment for a $7,000 bribe so Seiple would keep its borough contract.
