President Barack Obama had a private dinner in his hotel room with DreamWorks Animation CEO and major donor Jeffrey Katzenberg Tuesday night in Los Angeles.

Press secretary Jay Carney revealed to reporters that the dinner occurred, but provided little detail aside from its location.

Katzenberg has been a loyal supporter of Obama, raising and contributing millions for his presidential campaigns.

He has held multiple fundraisers for Obama, including one he co-hosted at the home of George Clooney in 2012 that raised a stunning $15 million.

This financial support has earned the praise of Obama, who has not been shy to thank Katzenberg and his wife.

"I want to thank Jeffery not just for this evening but for his tenacious support and advocacy since we started back in 2007. He has just been consistently been there for me through thick and through thin," Obama said at Clooney’s home. "No matter where we were and what phase we were in, in that campaign, he stuck with us.  And over the last three and a half years he’s remained just an extraordinary friend. So, Jeffery, thank you for everything you’ve done."

Meanwhile, Katzenberg’s DreamWorks is being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission on allegations that the company bribed Chinese officials to obtain exclusive film rights in the country.

DreamWorks last year announced a major deal with the Chinese government, allowing the company to build a production studio in Shanghai. Negotiations between then Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping and DreamWorks were personally assisted by  Vice President Joe Biden.

Obama was in Los Angeles to appear on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
