Nunn on the Run

Nunn Dodges Questions on Whether She Would Have Voted for Obamacare

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Michelle Nunn painfully ducked NBC's questions about whether she would have supported Obamacare during a report shown Monday on MSNBC's Morning Joe.

Nunn has taken great pains to paint herself as a centrist Democrat in a state which has voted for the Republican presidential candidate every cycle since 1992.

Given Obamacare's overall unpopularity, Nunn hedged when asked for her opinion on the law.

"At the time the Affordable Health Care Act was passed, I was working for 'Points of Light,'" Nunn said. "I wish that we had more people who had tried to architect a bipartisan legislation."

"So yes or no?" reporter Kasie Hunt asked.

"So I think it's impossible to look back retrospectively and say what you would have done when you were there," she said.

MSNBC's The Daily Rundown host Chuck Todd ripped Nunn for her caginess, saying it reeked of a "practiced politician" response.

"It just doesn't come across as credible," he said. "When you somehow say, 'Well, I was busy doing another job' ... I think that was a terrible answer and I think she's going to have to get a better answer."
