NBC News medical expert Dr. Natalie Azar said Wednesday that Hillary Clinton being treated for an infection a week before she publically announced that she had pneumonia suggested she "was really sick for awhile."
"I wasn't aware, I don't think we were all aware that a week before 9/11 she was already being treated for an infection with an antibiotic and still [developed] pneumonia on top of it. Which just tells me she was really sick for awhile," Azar said on The Rachel Maddow Show.
Azar said that her doctor was on top of Clinton's constant cough and fainting episode to order a CAT scan to rule out pneumonia. In turn, that is what the diagnosis ended up being.
Clinton has taken a majority of the week off from campaigning to recover and is scheduled to return to the campaign trail Thursday.
