White House press secretary Jay Carney did not take a position on the labor dispute between Chicago public school teachers and the city, in a Monday White House press briefing.

"Is it fair to characterize the White House as sort of neutral in this dispute?" NBC's Chuck Todd asked.

"We certainly haven't expressed an opinion on how it should be resolved," Carney said. "We're urging the sides to resolve it."
