Behar, Goldberg of 'The View' Express Doubts About Warren Becoming President

January 9, 2018

ABC's "The View" co-hosts Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg have serious doubts about Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren's (Mass.) prospects of becoming president.

During a discussion on TV personality Oprah Winfrey's much-discussed Golden Globes speech from Sunday and reports that she is mulling a presidential bid in 2020, co-host Meghan McCain asked Goldberg and Behar why they are pushing for Winfrey to run when they "love Elizabeth Warren."

"Don't you love Elizabeth Warren?" McCain asked.

"Listen, I like Elizabeth Warren," Behar responded. "If Elizabeth Warren could win, I would back her up. I’m not sure that she's a little—you know, for the country right now."

"She's not going to be president," Goldberg added while Behar spoke.

Earlier in the discussion, McCain said that she would prefer a candidate in 2020 with military service or political experience.

"There are a lot of people who have worked really hard," McCain said of the pool of potential candidates who may run for president in 2020.
