President Barack Obama announced Tuesday his appointment of Time magazine managing editor Richard Stengel to the office of under secretary for public diplomacy and public affairs.

Stengel has served as managing editor for Time since 2006 and started his career with the publication in 1981, according to a White House press release.

He also served as a speechwriter in the failed Bill Bradely for President primary campaign in 2000.

This appointment adds yet another journalist into the Obama administration. The Atlantic Wire estimated that at least 23 journalists now work in the White House.
